Bras Basah

Well connected to the central business district and shopping district of Singapore, Brash Basah is home to many national monuments such as the Church of St Peter & Paul and Maghain Aboth Synagogue. Formerly the first Roman Catholic Church, Saint Joseph’s Institution is now replaced by the Singapore Art Museum. There, many public programs and workshops are frequently conducted to complement the exhibitions. For a greater peek into Singapore’s diverse cultural history, the Peranakan Museum is right around the corner as well. Another famous landmark is the Bras Basah Complex, a melting pot of books, art, music and literature. Many vintage classics and hardcovers can be found, if one tries hard enough. To enhance the reading experience, residents can always drop by the National Library which houses special collections at Lee Kong Chian Reference Library and a mid-sized performing arts Drama Centre. Educational institutions like Singapore Management University and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts are within the vicinity.
