Dhoby Ghaut

Previously a bank by the river where residents would wash their clothes, Dhoby Ghaut (NS24/NE6/CC1) has been transformed into one of the most accessible interchange with connections to the Circle Line, North South Line and North East Line. A proposed LRT line to the downtown Civic and Business District is in the pipeline as well. Outside the station, one can find Dhoby Ghaut Green, an urban park where bazaars and street performances are often held. Dhoby Ghaut not only houses the Istana - official residence and office of the President of Singapore - but it is also home to Fort Canning Park which was used by the Japanese for its military during World War II. 

With The Cathay and Plaza Singapura shopping mall steps away from Singapore Management University, a spread of retail, fashion and entertainment outlets are available for students’ enjoyment. Other educational institutions include School of the Arts (SOTA), Singapore’s first pre-tertiary specialized arts school and The University Of Chicago Booth School of Business. Residential housing in the area include Martin Place Residences, Aspen Heights, 8 @ Mount Sophia,VisionCrestand Tiara condominium.
