The first satellite town in Singapore, Queenstown (EW19) has a rich history behind it. To date, many buildings such as Princess House and the former Anchor Brewery Brewmaster’s House have been conserved to preserve memories of our past. Together with Queensway Shopping Centre that sells sporting merchandise at a lower rate than other retail stores, Anchor Point continues to be a favorite shopping destination with its large number of branded fashion factory outlet stores. One of the two IKEA outlets, the world’s largest furniture retailer, is located in this district while the other is found in Tampines.
A plethora of educational institutions populate this area, ranging from Queenstown Primary School to the Global Indian International School and Management Development Institute of Singapore. In the future, new public and private housing will be made available at Margaret Drive along with a new nursing home to meet the needs of elderly residents. Existing apartments include Alexis, Queens and The Anchorage condominiums.
